I have been around young kids my whole life so, I thought I knew all there was to being a parent. Boy was I wrong. When I became a mom I realized there was so much that I didn’t know. Having my own child has taught me so many lessons.
Sleep will become a thing of the past. Enjoy it while you can.
Patience. Oh the patience you will need. When it’s not your own child you can send them home when they are driving you crazy. You can’t send your own child away LOL
Privacy. What is privacy? You can forget about going to the bathroom in peace or showering. You will constantly have a mini me following you everywhere you go.
Expect the unexpected. When you have children it can be hard to make plans. You never know when something will come up so you kinda just have to go with the flow.
Appreciate the little things in life. “They grow up so fast” You won’t believe that saying until you have kids of your own. They really do grow up in the blink of an eye.
There are no perfect parents. We will all make mistakes and thats ok. Parenting doesn’t come with an instruction manual.
Your priorities change. Your kids will become your number one priority and you will more than likely lose friends because of that.
Unconditional love. The love you have for your children is like no kind of love you will ever have for anyone else. It is honestly insane how much you can love someone!
Me time is hard to come by. But it is something you need even if it’s just taking a relaxing bath when the kids go to bed. You can’t be at your best to take care of anyone if you aren’t taking care of yourself.
Children learn by example. They are always watching you. Even when you think they aren’t.
What did you learn when you became a mom? I would love to hear about it.
