Valentine’s Day can be expensive between trying to buy gifts and also planning something special to do. It can be overwhelming trying to find that perfect gift or plan the perfect date night. If you are like my husband and I you may not like to fight the crowds or spend a ton on Valentine’s Day. I thought I would throw together some great ideas for Valentine’s gift and date ideas that are low to no cost but can still be great. You dont have to spend a ton to have a good time and gifts shouldn’t be judged by how much they cost. For us the best gifts are the thoughtful ones that come from the heart.
Handmade cards– My husband LOVES when I make him a card. It’s always more personal and special to him. I rarely ever buy him cards anymore unless its something my kids want to get him. I always write out a little love note in every card.
Candle lit dinner at home– You dont have to go out for dinner to have a romantic night. Sometimes the best date night is one spent at home. You can light some candles, cook a great meal and spend the evening having a quiet one on one conversation without having to deal with all the noise that comes with going out.
Movie Night– You can rent a movie to watch at home or order one if you have On-Demand. It’s cheaper then going to a movie theater! You can get your favorite popcorn & snacks and still come out cheaper at the end of the night. Best part is that you can get comfy on the couch and not have to worry about missing anything if you need a bathroom break!
Romantic walk for two– I love taking a nice walk with my husband. It can be just around our neighborhood, at a park or really anywhere. We always end up holding hands and just talking as we walk which makes it romantic and lets us have quality time.
Dance Party– Play your favorite music and have your own private dance party right from the comfort of your own home.
Give the gift of music– For a nice gift idea you can go old school and burn your someone special a CD of their favorite tunes! I know my husband would LOVE this!
Massage – A nice relaxing massage is the perfect fit for a great Valentine’s Day gift. You can also make it part of your date and take turns.
Games– regardless if you are a video game person, board game person or even those that fall somewhere in between. Playing a few games could be a fun way to spend your Valentine’s Day. This also works if you are doing a group get together for Valentine’s Day. Some people do their own thing for the first part of the night and meet up later with friends and games with friends in my house usually ends with lots of laughter!
Picnic– If you don’t want to stay in while you eat you can always have a romantic Valentine’s Day picnic! Put together a quick & easy picnic basket with all your favorite foods.
Coupon Book– You can make a book full of fun coupons! I did this for my husband one year and he LOVED it. There are a ton of printables on Pinterest that you can use to make your coupon books!
Just remember that you dont have to spend a ton to make something special. Doing things that are smaller and more personal are often better and more romantic.
